DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

Administer the medication directly into the mouth, in water, or with meals/snacks.

ADMINISTRATION: Ideally, the liquid preparation should be applied directly to the lining of the mouth, including the lips. For dogs, this is best done by gently pulling back the labial pouch, and for cats, by lifting their head until their mouth opens. If an animal finds this uncomfortable, or if their owner cannot comply, the medication can be mixed with water or milk. If an animal is sensitive to the smell of the alcohol preservative, allow 10 to 20 minutes for the alcohol to evaporate before offering the liquid or food. Sometimes, when administered directly into the mouth, the animal may shake its head in response to the alcohol preservative. Cats may salivate excessively, and in such cases, mixing the medication with food, water, or milk may help.

Small mammals such as rabbits, ferrets, hamsters, and pot-bellied pigs should be dosed by weight, as with cats and dogs, according to the dosage chart. In severe cases, one drop can be diluted in 1 ml of water or another oral rehydration solution and administered orally to the animal. For example, two drops for a mouse or small bird, four drops for a large guinea pig. For acute cases, the dosage can be repeated as with cats and dogs, according to the dosage chart.
